During the event, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad AlKhalifa also toured a large-scale 3D model of the project which is a centre-piece in the Control Building, and is the first 3D printed model of this scale and complexity commissioned in the Middle East.  The 3D model accurately illustrates all aspects of this new mega project facilities.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad AlKhalifa interacted with a number of Bahraini youth operators, engineers, specialists and technicians, who are actively involved in the management and development of the BMP project, and he praised them for their dedication and pride in their national duties.

The visiting delegation included Mr. Abdulla Jehad Al Zain, Chairman of the Bapco Board of Directors, Mr. Mark Thomas Group Chief Executive Officer for Bapco Energies, as well as other Board Members of Bapco Energies.

At the conclusion of the visit, Bapco’s Chairman, Mr. Abdulla Jehad Al Zain thanked His Highness and all the dignitaries for the morale boosting event and the words of wisdom and encouragement provided.  He thanks all the Bapco and Contractor teams involved and assured the Bapco Energies Board of Directors of the commitment of the Company in safely and reliably completing the BMP project.

The Bapco Modernization Program (BMP) is one of the largest projects ever undertaken in the history of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and for Bapco, this multi-billion dollar venture is the largest capital investment in its 90-year history. The BMP vision is driven by meeting the challenges of the future and leaving a lasting legacy, while its success is expected to have a multiplier effect. The project is currently in its Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) phase that is being executed under a lump sum EPC Contract awarded to a consortium comprising Technip Energies (Italy), Tecnicas Reunidas (Spain) and Samsung (Korea) that are collectively functioning under a joint venture titled TTSJV.

BMP’s objectives are to increase refining capacity, enhance the product slate, improve the energy efficiency, and emerge as one of the most competitive and environmentally compliant refineries in the region. The BMP is essential for Bapco’s long-term sustainability and provides a sound foundation for realizing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Vision 2030. The project has also provided excellent opportunities for the employment, development and growth of more than 500 young Bahrainis that have been hired and trained in the operations and maintenance of the upcoming world-class facilities.
