OHSAS 18001 is a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management system designed to enable organizations to control OH&S risks and improve their health and safety performance. Controlling risks means that accidents and ill-health will be reduced; personal injuries will be prevented; damage to equipment and loss of productivity will be avoided and the Company will meet its ethical and moral obligations to the work force and community. DNV conducted its Recertification audit from 1st – 5th July 2018 which is equivalent to 12 audit days. The Key Audit Objectives were to determine the conformity of the management system with the standard, and evaluate the effectiveness of the management system to ensure the organization is capable of meeting applicable statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements, and achieving specified objectives. There were 22 findings which were discussed during the close out meeting on the last day of the Audit in which BAPCO Senior Management and audited Departments attended. An action plan will now be put in place to address the various recommendations. The next Periodical Audit will be scheduled for June 2019. Bapco Senior Management praised the high standards being maintained within the organization, and thanked all who participated.
