Bapco and Saudi Aramco have successfully conducted a Job Explanation Meeting for Onshore Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Package of the AB Pipeline Project on 13 January 2015 at the Gulf Hotel. The meeting was attended by senior Aramco and Bapco Management along with Project Team members and selected bidders. “The Project replaces the current ageing crude oil pipeline between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain with a new 30” diameter pipeline”, said Bapco’s General Manager - Major Engineering Projects Mr. Abdul Jabbar Abdul Karim. “It will also cater to future increase in crude oil demand post implementation of Bapco Modernization Program (BMP). Out of a total length of 115km, 42km is subsea (Offshore) portion and balance 73km is on land (Onshore) portion. Request for Proposals (RFPs) were earlier issued for both portions on 5th January 2015”, he added. A great deal of interest and enthusiasm was shown by all the bidders at this meeting, who were later provided with a tour of the entire pipeline route. “Similar meeting for offshore portion was conducted on 11 January 2015 in Dubai. Contracts are expected to be awarded by Q2 2015”. “The AB Pipeline Project receives full support & encouragement from HE Minister of Energy Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, Bapco’s Chairman Mr. Adel Khalil Al-Moayyed, Nogaholding Chief Executive, HE Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa and Bapco’s Chief Executive Dr. Pete Bartlett, who also have extended their best wishes towards the successful completion of this key project”, Mr. Abdul Karim concluded.
