Bapco will hold a scholarship information evening on Wednesday, March 17, to provide more information about its overseas scholarship opportunities for 2010.
Attendance at the information evening is by invitation only, and in order to receive an invitation students interested in attending must pre-register by visiting http://www.bapco.net and follow the link to ‘Scholarship Opportunities’. You will find the information evening on-line registration form (a Microsoft Word document) which you should complete and email back to scholarship@bapco.net. Students meeting the eligibility criteria will be sent an invitation which will give further details of the venue for the information evening.
Scholarships eligibility criteria
Bapco launched its 2010 scholarship awards programme at the end of February, and disciplines on offer from September 2010 onwards are: Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geology and Geophysics. Study locations include Australia, U.K. and U.S.A.
Applicants should have a strong track record in mathematics, science and English (Minimum IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 is an advantage), and should come from one of the following streams:
- Towjehiya science graduate, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 97%. Towjehiya English score of not less than 97% in the final year. Excellent results in mathematics, physics and chemistry.
- I.B. Diploma, predicted to attain a minimum of 34 points including physics/mathematics/chemistry. Predicted mathematics and chemistry score of 5+ at the higher level.
- A level, predicted to attain grades ABB including mathematics and chemistry. Physics is also preferred.
Scholarship applications
Applications, in English, should include:

A hand-written letter of application, in English, stating why you wish to join the Bapco overseas scholarship programme and which discipline(s) you are interested in applying for. State why you have selected this discipline(s) and say why your application should be taken further.

An official Towjehiya transcript covering the past three years, or grades 10, 11 and 12, translated to English (all applicants).

Written confirmation from your school of your predicted grades (A level and IB applicants only).

Copies of your passport and CPR.

A recent passport photograph.
